A Heart Pine Coffee Table Made From 1809 Factory Floorboards

Old-growth heart pine reclaimed from the floors and walls of the original 1809 toy factory building, re-milled and joined into a single coffee table top for Sylvia Knapp.

The project

This custom coffee table was made from old-growth heart pine reclaimed from the floors and walls of the original 1809 toy factory building.

The story

From salvaged stock to one continuous top.

The wood is old-growth heart pine reclaimed from the floors and walls of the original 1809 toy factory building.

The wide boards were re-milled from that salvaged stock. The grain was laid out, and the boards were matched and joined into a single top so the vertical grain runs continuously across the full width, with breadboard ends across each end.

The top was sanded and finished, and the piece was built to order for the client, Sylvia Knapp, who had been looking at boards from the same 1809 stock.

This is the kind of custom piece we make from our salvaged material. We can build something similar.

Google review

“I had a great experience with Toy Town Vintage Salvage! They had some beautiful reclaimed pine and I just wanted some slabs but they helped me build a coffee table and some shelves. Beautiful wood!”
